Regional Sales Manager, PM and Operations Support

|
Rick Friesen is a self-confessed people person and log home enthusiast. He calls the mountains of North Idaho his true home after moving from Northern California in 1999. Growing up in the country, he was the fix-it man and jack-of-all-trades on the family homestead.
Rick’s background and education are in technology but he knew he might have to give up servers and software to move to the small town of Bonners Ferry and the rural life he loved so much. He eventually did so, trading tech sales and service for another of his passions, working with his hands. Starting in the construction yard at Caribou Creek with his scriber and chainsaw nearby, he went about learning the art and craft of log and timber construction the old fashioned way – by doing it. While a logsmith he helped construct some of Caribou Creek’s largest projects to date.
Rick’s jack-of-all-trades background has proved a boon for Caribou. Coming full circle, he was asked to work in the office, ironically, to fix and maintain the computers and to write custom estimating software. Because of his knowledge of log construction, Rick eventually became Estimating Manager while also working in Caribou’s Design and Drafting office. Rick occasionally still wears many hats depending on the need, working to support the Project Management and Operations departments and doing custom software design.
Now a Regional Sales Manager, Rick puts his unique background and knowledge of the industry to use helping people feed their “log home addictions (LHA).” He enjoys getting to know people and learning how each new client’s story relates to the log home lifestyle so that he can better serve them.
Rick enjoys mountain living with his wife, Shanna, and German shepherd, Kyra. He and his wife spend most of their spare time with organizations helping area youth. He sings, builds robots, hunts, and loves to teach. |
