Chris Stern, who picked up the nick-name “Loghead” while building the Log School House in Stehekin at the end of Lake Chelan, came to us a few years ago with close to 30 years experience, at the time, in the Log Home Industry. He is currently our Washington State Sales Manager, and runs his own Construction Company and spends a fair amount of time consulting with families on their building projects.
Chris graduated from the University of Washington in 1973 with a degree in Forest Management and was soon working for Weyerhaeuser planting trees. In 1977, he left his Forester position with Weyerhaeuser to raise a family in the wilds of North Central Washington. Chris enjoyed building his own hand crafted log home, near the small town of Winthrop, so much, that he went into the business. Since that time Chris has helped families negotiate their way through the dream stage, on through the selection and planning stage, through the design, permitting and ground breaking stages, and right through the construction to the move-in and house warming party. Chris continues to serve his clients as a General Contractor, or as a resource for ideas, materials, or contacts, or as a consultant and resource for their own general contractor who may not have the experience that Chris has gained through the years.
On the side, Chris has developed an interest in Mediation, taking classes and gaining certification with the Washington Mediation Association, and has put that to good use helping families work their way through the balancing of ideas of multiple parties, offering previously unrealized options to what may have seemed like conflicting ideas, and negotiating with third parties if issues arise along the path to a finished home. Chris is also a realist and works diligently to balance dreams with reality, and is able to make suggestions to help that balance result in a home his clients will never want to leave. |
